Parked vehicle at a closed business leads to arrest
According to Picayune Police Assistant Chief Jeremy Magri, patrol officers made an arrest on August 1st after they observed a vehicle parked in front of a business that was closed.
At approximately, 12:17am, officers pulled up the 2000 Ford F-150 pickup and the driver’s side door was open with a male sitting inside the truck.
Due to the time of night and the business being closed, Magri said the officers made contact with the suspect, later identified as Michael Wayne Mitchell,
age 47, 218 Telly Road, Picayune. While speaking with Mitchell, the officers noticed that the suspect was nervous and stuttering his words which officers believed was due to Mitchell being under the influence of narcotics. The officers asked for consent to search the vehicle which was granted.
During the search, the officer located a silver container in the center console which contained a white crystal like substance believed to be Crystal Methamphetamine. Mitchell was arrested, transported to the Criminal Justice Center, and booked for Possession of Controlled Substance (felony).
