Three local men arrested for possession of illegal narcotics

The Picayune Police Department made three drug related arrests in a one week period earlier this month according to Assistant Chief Jeremy Magri.

On August 10th at around 2:40 a.m., Picayune Police Patrol officers observed a male subject not wearing a shirt walking near 7th Street mini storage units in an area where burglaries have occurred prior. The officers spoke to the man, identified as Jeffery Daniel Bridges, age 28, of 125 Eloise Street, Picayune, according to Magri..

When the officers ran a check on Bridges in NCIC, it was discovered he was wanted for a parole violation from the Mississippi Department of Corrections. Bridges was taken into custody on the outstanding warrant and transported to the Criminal Justice Center (CJC). Once at the CJC, officers conducted a thorough search on Bridges and they discovered a clear plastic bag concealed in his right sock that contained a crystal like substance that appeared to be crystal methamphetamine. Bridges was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, booked, and incarcerated, Magri stated.

In another unrelated incident, Magri said that officers were dispatched to a local quick stop on Memorial Blvd at 10:11 p.m. on August 12th in reference to a suspicious male in the restroom. Upon arrival, an officer made contact with a male identified as Jeremy Keith Anderson, age 34, of 52 Haven Road, Picayune.

Magri said that when the officers attempted to conduct a safety pat-down on the suspect, Anderson tossed his wallet on the ground. Officers retrieved the wallet and inside the wallet they found two clear plastic baggies. One of the baggies contained a crystal-like substance believed to be Crystal Methamphetamine and the other baggie contained a brown powdery substance believed to be Heroin.

Anderson was arrested, transported to the CJC, and booked for two counts for Possession of a Controlled Substance, and incarcerated according to Magri.

Magri said that officers were patrolling the area around East Canal Street on August 5th at 10:16 a.m. when they observed a suspicious green Ford pickup truck parked near the rear of a business with a male standing by the driver side door of the truck.

The officers knew the business was closed and made contact with the suspect, identified as Ervin Guidry, age 34, of 170 Old Crossroads, Poplarville. While speaking with Guidry, the officer observed a black clipboard with a crystal-like substance residue laying in plain view on the seat in the truck. Magri said the officer conducted a safety pat-down on Guidry and recovered a small plastic Tylenol bottle from Guidry’s right pants pocket.

Upon examining the bottle, it contained a plastic baggie that contained a clear crystal-like substance believed to be Crystal Methamphetamine. Magri stated that at this time, Guidry was arrested, transported to the CJC, and booked for Possession of a Controlled Substance.
