Small Business Saturday is tomorrow (Sat Nov 24)....Shop Local...Shop Small!

Tomorrow, Saturday November 24,2018, is Small Business Saturday….an opportunity to shop local and shop small…as in shop in our many wonderful small businesses here in our area. American Express founded Small Business Saturday in 2010, giving small businesses and brick-and-mortar stores across the country a special boost and a way to get shoppers’ attentions between Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Nearly half of all people who shop visit an independent business on Small Business Saturday are stopping by for the first time. Since its founding, it’s been a powerful opportunity to reconnect with customers -- and boost sales. Last year, 112 million shoppers participated spending more than $15 billion.

A research economist says the potential for those businesses to find new repeat customers may be the biggest benefit.

Devin O'Connor, Deputy Director of Economic Research at the Committee for Economic Development, said, "The effect of once you get a customer in your door you have a chance to make a repeat customer or get someone used to purchasing from you or loyal to purchasing from you."

A survey by American Express and the National Federation of Independent Business shows approximately 67 cents of each dollar spent at your local small business goes back into the pocket of your community.

Pearl River Communications, Inc and WRJW radio encourage you to shop local, shop small, and support our local businesses. They matter to all of us.
