PRC school district launches new bond website; receives update on Intru-Door safety systems
During Thursday’s meeting of the Pearl River County School District board of trustees, Financial Director T.J. Burleson unveiled a new website to allow the public access to the latest actions taken and associated costs to the districts bond construction and an update on the installation the Intru-Door safety systems.
The district garnered 62 percent of the vote on May 18, 2018, for a $18.5 million bond issuance for construction of classrooms on the Middle/High School Campus, additional classrooms on the Elementary Campus and renovations at both locations. Other needs addressed will be parking, drainage, and ADA (American Disabilities Act) improvements on both campuses.

According to Burleson, drainage work as part of the project should begin after the upcoming Easter / Spring Break. Burleson also introduced a website that will allow the public to follow the projects (click here to access the site)
The website will be updated with the progress of the projects related to the bonds including final drawings, invoices paid, and budget information. The site can be accessed from the districts homepage as noted below.
Burleson also gave a brief update on the status of the installation of the Intru-Door system at the school. He said the district had received and installed approximately half of the total units ordered and the vendor told Burleson that the additional units are being painted, packaged, and should be delivered shortly after Easter/Spring Break. Once received, Burleson said the units will be installed by the school district’s maintenance department.
In June of 2018, approved to move forward by a vote of 2 to 1 with the purchase of 102 window protectors (slides) at $200.00 each and 114 door protectors (latching arms) at $144.00 each from Intru-Door for a total cost of $36,816.00.
