Pearl River County Sheriff's Office makes three narcotic related arrests

In a press release, Pearl River County Sheriff David Allison detailed three arrests recently made by his officers of individuals for narcotic related and other offenses.

Sheriff Allison stated that Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office (PRCSO) Narcotics Unit Investigators were on routine patrol on June 21, 2019, when they executed a traffic stop on vehicle for a traffic violation at approximately 1:00 a.m.

Lewis Fredrick Kennedy and Sterling Clint Emery

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Lewis Fredrick Kennedy, age 38, of 1344 West Union Road, Picayune, MS. was found to have a hypodermic needle in his possession. A search of the inside of the vehicle Smith was driving revealed Methamphetamine packaged for resale.

Kennedy was arrested and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute, a traffic violation, and a hold from the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC).

A passenger in the vehicle, identified as Sterling Emery, age 32, of 318 Clark Street, Carriere, MS, was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine and he also had a MDOC hold.

Sheriff Allison said that both suspects were transported to the Pearl River County Jail in Millard and incarcerated.

In a separate incident, Sheriff Allison stated that Investigators with the PRCSO Narcotics Unit were on routine patrol on June 21, 2019, at around 2:28 a.m. when they observed a white male on foot acting suspiciously.

Investigators made contact with the suspect and immediately identified him as Joshua Lawrence Smith, age 34, of 105 Bluebird Lane, Picayune, MS according to Allison. Allison said Investigators were familiar with Smith due to previous contact and were aware he had outstanding warrants for his arrest from the MDOC.

Sheriff Allison stated that Smith (pictured) was searched and he was found to be in possession of Methamphetamine.

Upon the discovery of the Methamphetamine, Sheriff Allison said that Smith began resisting the officers by attempting to pull away in a presumed attempt to flee, but he was unsuccessful.

Smith was placed under arrest and transported to the Pearl River County Jail where he was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Resisting Arrest, and probation violations from MDOC according to Sheriff Allison.
