MAAP Scores Released; summary of our area schools for your review

The Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) released the Mississippi Academic Assessment Program (MAAP) results this past week.

MAAP is used to measure a student's progress toward specific academic goals.

MDE states that Mississippi teachers are involved in developing the MAAP tests in alignment with goals for learning set by the Mississippi legislature and the state board of education. Students are scored 1-5 with a score of 4 being proficient and 5 advanced.

English Language Arts (ELA) and Math tests are taken in grades 3 - 8; English II and Algebra I tests are given in high school. Mississippi's goal is 70 percent of students to score proficient or above in ELA and Math by year 2015.
