BILOXI, Miss. — Wednesday night gave the Pearl River baseball program another unforgettable experience as the Wildcats went toe-to-toe with the Double-AA affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers, the Biloxi Shuckers, for a third consecutive season.

Although the Wildcats came up short in the contest, PRCC held the Shuckers to two runs on six hits, falling 2-0 in the seven-inning contest. Both runs and hits totals were the fewest PRCC has allowed in the three-year series.
"This opportunity is such an incredible experience for our guys," head coach Michael Avalon said. "We're extremely thankful that the Biloxi Shuckers have given us this chance. Nights like this let our guys see what it's like to play professional baseball. They're able to look across the field and see the things those guys do and look up to them. They know they're playing against guys who they want to be. It's truly a special night."
Jacob Keys (Brandon) earned the first Wildcat knock of the day in the top of the first, taking an outside pitch and slapping it into right field for a single. Pearl River used seven pitchers in the contest, beginning with starting pitcher Caleb Dyess (Carriere; Pearl River Central). The Shuckers got two runners aboard in the frame before Dyess induced a 5-4-3 double play to end the inning.
PRCC threatened in the second with a Topher Jones (Hernando) walk and an Ethan Garner (Gulfport) single into right field but couldn't scratch across a run. Nico Williams (Gulfport) took the mound in the second and forced a double play and a flyout to escape the frame.
Key reached base for the second time in the third, drawing a walk and swiping second base to get into scoring position. Unfortunately, the Shuckers closed out the frame.
Logan Fontenelle (Biloxi) was the third Wildcat pitcher of the day. Biloxi loaded up the bases against the right-hander, but he threw a nasty breaking pitch to earn a strikeout and strand all three runners. A double play aided AJ Hansen (Mobile, Ala.; McGill-Toolen) in the fourth inning as he kept the Brewers off the scoresheet.
The first Shuckers' run of the day came in the fifth frame, scoring on a sacrifice fly. Dylan Wallace (Columbia) responded well to the run and finished off the inning without allowing any further damage.
Jackson Hood (Madison; Germantown) picked up PRCC's final hit of the night in the top of the sixth, ripping a line drive into left field. The Wildcats turned to Landon Watts (Picayune) in the bottom half, and he retired the Shuckers in order.
PRCC's final pitcher of the night was Peyton Lacy (Pass Christian), who induced PRCC's third double play of the gameand earned a punchout despite giving up a run, 2-0.
